The Italian Company ATECO IMPIANTI (www.atecoimpianti.it) enters to be part of the Engitec Group. Through this acquisition Engitec increases the know how mainly in the Copper sector for the whole production cycle, from scrap processing, smelting and casting, up to the manufacturing of semi-finished products such as billets, bars, wires etc.

The Greek Company SUNLIGHT RECYCLING S.A. of Athens will install at the site of Komotini a whole Engitec CX system for processing 30.000 tpy of batteries, complete with a smelting-refining section for a production of about 17.000 tpy of refined lead. The process will include the last technology of “super-desulphurization” of the paste which will allow a diminution of produced slag under 5% of produced lead, i.e. around 800 tpy, together with negligible values of SO2 emission.

The New Company “ENGITEC (SHANGHAI) GREEN METALLURGICAL CO.” has been established in the P.R. of China with the aim of improving the technical supports to the local Clients and of promoting and expanding all the activities of Engitec Technologies.

The primary Chinese Client HENAN YUGUANG GOLD & LEAD CO. will install a new Engitec battery pre-crushing system to process the whole scrap feeding the two CX plants able to process in total around 1.000 t/day of batteries.
The new branch Engitec Technologies USA was established with the main focus to advance the Flubor primary lead electrowinning technology to the commercial stage. In addition, Engitec USA provides technical, commercial and procurement assistance for Engitec projects in North American and elsewhere. Engitec USA is strategically positioned to be an integral part of the growing CX secondary lead acid battery recycling and Ezinex secondary zinc recovery markets in the Western Hemisphere.
The Company DAISEKI MCR, through MITSUBISHI CORPORATION TECHNOS as buyer, will install the first Engitec CX plant in Tochigi prefecture - Japan. The plant will have a capacity of 6,5 t/h of lead-acid batteries. The system will be complete with the desulphurization of paste , rotary furnace, lead refinery and complete environmental protection systems. The production is foreseen to start by 1st quarter 2012
Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) awarded Engitec with a second contract for the complete design and supply of a secondary lead smelter, to be located in Florence – South Carolina, with production expected to begin within 2012. The facility will process 235.000 tpy of batteries and produce around 132.000 tpy of lead through a complete line including 30 tph breaker with paste desulphurization, grids desulphurization and Sodium Sulphate production, smelter with rotary furnaces, complete lead refinery and automatic ingots casting. The plant will establish a new milestone because of the peculiarities of the measures to prevent and to control the environment pollution.
Engitec was one of the actors at the Contract Signing Ceremony in Beijing for the project “Environmental Improvement and Comprehensive utilization of 100 000 t/year of waste lead-acid batteries” for Hubei Jinyang Environmental Protection Co. to be installed in the Gusheng county, Hubei province. The project is financed through an Italian Government soft loan in the frame of the Sino-Italian Development Cooperation Program
